Join us for the Capital City Juneteenth Celebration!
The community is invited to an afternoon of reflection and festivity in honor of Juneteenth (June 19th) – the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the abolition of slavery in the United States.
Bring your lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy entertainment, kids activities, vendors and food at this community celebration presented by the Capital City Juneteenth Committee, City of Raleigh, and Dix Park Conservancy.

Trivia Night
In celebration of the upcoming Juneteenth holiday, select rounds will feature Juneteenth-themed trivia that honors the history and significance of the day

Plant Pals
In Plant-a-Pot, you’ll personalize a terracotta planter with Juneteenth themed paints and patterns, and take home a pothos plant along with helpful houseplant care tips.

Line Dancing
This workshop takes you through a series of line dances, to learn the steps & explore what moving together can teach us about showing up for one another.

Math Makers
Play with math! In celebration of Juneteenth, we'll be exploring circular patterns found in traditions around Africa. You'll get to take a math kit home to continue your playful explorations after the program.

- Please come prepared for the weather and be mindful of staying hydrated and protected from the sun.
- Walking will be necessary in and around the event area. Please note, portions of the event have uneven surfaces.
- Leashed, well-behaved dogs are welcome, but please use your best judgement to determine if your pooch will enjoy the crowd and noise.
Temporary restrooms will be available throughout the event site. Indoor and ADA restrooms are available in Gipson Play Plaza.
In the event of inclement weather, elements of the event may be moved indoors to the Chapel.
