Learn about the resident and migrant birds of Dix Park while sharpening your bird identification skills as we practice birding by sight and by ear. Get ready to learn tips for identifying sparrows, woodpeckers, hawks and more. Contribute to real science data as we monitor how the diversity of birds changes in the park from month to month.

Registration
Space is limited, registration is required. Registration opens two weeks in advance of each program date at 12:00 pm.
This program is free to the public thanks to Dix Park Conservancy donors.
Know Before You Go
- Pack your binoculars and let’s go birding together. No Binoculars? No problem! 15 pairs of sanitized binoculars are available for use during the program, first come first served.
- This program occurs outdoors the entire time. Dress for the weather.
- Comfortable, closed-toe shoes are recommended for walking up hills, in grass and on uneven surfaces.

- Via Western Boulevard: Enter at Hunt Drive
- Via Lake Wheeler Road: Enter at Umstead Drive
- Via Centennial Parkway: Enter at Blair Drive
- Follow signs towards Visitor Center
- Parking is located across Umstead Drive and at The Chapel, Lot C
If there is inclement weather, the program will be canceled and registered participants will be notified by Eventbrite email.
- Temporary restrooms and water stations are available throughout the park.
- Public restrooms are located at Stone Houses and Gipson Play Plaza.
Dix Park continues to strive to be accessible and welcoming for visitors, including those with disabilities. Currently, portions of Dix Park, including some areas where programs and events occur, have uneven surfaces and are not fully accessible. Accessibility is a primary focus for all park improvements and development.
Parking: ADA parking spaces for the Stone Houses Visitor Center are behind the building. ADA parking spaces are available in all lots.
Restrooms: Indoor accessible restrooms are available at the Stone Houses and Gipson Play Plaza. Temporary restrooms including ADA facilities are throughout the park.
