March 1, 2025: The daffodils are blooming

Once a dense ribbon of flowers, some of the original 50,000 daffodil bulbs planted in 2018 still bloom in Flowers Field.

Plan Your Visit
- The daffodils at Dix Park typically bloom between February and March.
- Free to visit seven days-a-week, from dawn until dusk.
- The daffodils are found in Flowers Field (in yellow on the map below)
- Use the Flowers Cottage address: 2105 Umstead Drive, Raleigh, NC 27603
- On weeknights and weekends, park visitors are welcome to use any parking lot. See map below for options.
- You can walk or bike to the park via Rocky Branch Greenway and Centennial Bikeway Connector.
Know Before You Go
- Please do not trample the flowers! Keep children and pets from straying into the daffodils.
- Please do not pick the flowers!
- Dogs must be on-leash and pick up after them.
- To see the daffodils up close, walking up and down hills, in grass and on uneven surfaces will be necessary. We recommend closed-toe shoes.
- Port-a-johns are the only restroom available near the daffodils. Indoor restrooms are available in the The Chapel during visitor hours.
- The Flower Cottage is operated by the Dix Park Conservancy and is not open to the public.
- NC Department of Health and Human Services employees work on the campus Monday -Friday. Please be respectful of their working environment and avoid DHHS buildings and parking areas during business hours.
Accessibility
Currently, portions of Dix Park - including around Flowers Field - have uneven surfaces and paths, and are not fully accessible for all mobility needs. Accessibility is a primary focus for park improvements currently in progress and all planning and development initiative. Learn more about Accessibility at Dix Park.
Parking: ADA/accessible parking is available in front of the Flowers Cottage (2105 Umstead Drive) and near the Magnolia Room at 1700 Umstead Drive.
Restrooms: ADA port-a-johns are located at the Magnolia Room. Indoor restrooms are available at The Stone Houses seven days a week from 8:00 am - 8:00 pm and at the Gatekeeper's Cottage Visitor Center, which is open Saturdays & Sundays, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
