Connect with nature through the senses to relax and enhance overall wellbeing.
In Japan, forest walks, known as shinrin-yoku , ‘bathing in the forest atmosphere’, are a key aspect of preventative health care. Join us for a talk and walk exploring the history and research behind forest bathing and benefits for human health while experiencing a guided forest bathing walk around Dix Park’s Stone Houses, Grove and Greenway.

Walking up hills, in grass, and on uneven surfaces will be necessary. Closed-toe shoes are recommended.

Free to attend. Registration is required. Registration opens two weeks in advance of each program date at 12:00 pm.

Know Before You Go
- A small camping stool, chair, yoga mat, or towel to carry during the walk and use to sit in nature.
- This program takes place outside the entire time. Dress for the weather.
- Walking up hills, in grass, and on uneven surfaces will be necessary. Closed-toe shoes are recommended.
If there is inclement weather, the walk will be canceled and registered participants will be notified by Eventbrite email.

Dix Park continues to strive to be accessible and welcoming for visitors, including those with disabilities. Currently, portions of Dix Park, including some areas where programs and events occur, have uneven surfaces and are not fully accessible. Accessibility is a primary focus for all park improvements and development.
Parking: ADA parking spaces for the Stone Houses are located behind the buildings off Tate Dr.
Restrooms: Accessible restrooms are available at the Superintendents House public restroom facility seven days a week from 8 am - 8 pm
Building Entrances: Ramps are located at the rear of the buildings.
Multiuse Path: The connection from the Rocky Branch Greenway to Umstead Dr. in front of the Stone Houses is fully accessible.
Programs and Events: Raleigh Parks Inclusion Services works with community members to support participation.
