Event Details
Hop on the Raleigh Trolley for a 2-hour tour to learn about the history of Dix Park, what the City's largest urban park has to offer today, and what's to come in the transformation of the former hospital campus into a world class destination.
The trolley is accessible with lift access. You will be invited to exit the trolley at times which may take place in grass and on uneven surfaces. Exiting the trolley is optional during the tour.

Registration opens 2 weeks in advance of each program date at 12:00 pm.
Know Before You Go
- Dress for the weather.
- Carry a refillable water bottle. Water fountains and bottle refilling stations located at the Stone Houses and throughout the park.
- Via Western Boulevard: Enter at Hunt Drive or S. Boylan Avenue
- Via Lake Wheeler Road: Enter at Umstead Drive
- Follow Signs towards The Stone Houses Visitor Center
- Parking is located in the lot between the Chapel and the Stone Houses. ADA parking is available in the rear of the Visitor Center.
Indoor restroom facilities are located in the Stone Houses Visitor Center and at the Superintendents House. Temporary restrooms are available throughout the park.
If we need to postpone or cancel due to inclement weather, registered participants will be notified by email. Staff has the right to cancel programs onsite if severe weather poses a safety risk.
Dix Park continues to strive to be accessible and welcoming for visitors, including those with disabilities. Currently, portions of Dix Park, including some areas where programs and events occur, have uneven surfaces and are not fully accessible. Accessibility is a primary focus for all park improvements and development.
Raleigh Trolley: The trolley is accessible with lift access. Exiting the trolley at stops during the tour is optional.
Parking: ADA parking spaces for the Stone Houses are located behind the buildings off Tate Dr.
Restrooms: Accessible restrooms are available at the Stone Houses public restroom facility and in the Visitor Center.
Building Entrances: Ramps are located at the rear of the buildings.
