Know Before You Go

  • Food and non-alcoholic drinks permitted
  • The Big Field event area is grass covered and has uneven surfaces. Closed-toe shoes are recommended.
  • Dogs are permitted, but please use your best judgment as we’re expecting a lot of people, so it will likely be crowded and loud. All dogs must be leashed, well-behaved and clean up after them.

  • Use any park entrance.
  • Once in the park, parking staff and signage will direct you to the nearest parking lot.
  • Parking is only permitted in paved or gravel lots.
  • Do not park in the grass or on the side of roads.

ADA Parking

  • Accessible Parking is available for vehicles displaying a valid placard or license plate.
  • Enter the park from Western Blvd. at Hunt Dr. Follow signs and parking staff to the accessible parking lot. 

Free Park-and-Ride Shuttles in Dix Park serve parking lots more than a 10 minute walk from the Big Field.

Parking Lot Map

  • Bike Share & E-Scooters – There are scooter corrals around Dix Park for convenient parking.  Including the Adams Parking Lot adjacent to the Big Field.
  • Bike Parking – No bike racks are located at eh Big Field. 

Temporary restrooms will be available at the event site with ADA accessible facilities included.

This event is rain or shine.

In the case of inclement weather, the event may be postponed or canceled. 

In the event of severe weather during the event, the park will be cleared and visitors will be asked to return to their vehicles.

Dix Park continues to strive to be accessible and welcoming for visitors, including those with disabilities. Currently, portions of Dix Park, including this event area, are grass covered, have uneven surfaces and are not fully accessible. Accessibility is a primary focus for early park improvements and all future planning and development.

Event Site: The Big Field is grass covered with uneven ground throughout. 

Event Parking:  Accessibility parking is available near the Big Field in the Adams Building Lot. Enter at Hunt Drive from Western Boulevard. Follow event signage and staff.

Event Shuttles: Shuttles are not fully ADA accessible. There are a few steps to enter the shuttle. The shuttles do not have a wheelchair lift.  Shuttles pick up from four different locations and drop attendees off at the Big Field along Biggs Drive near Meals on Wheels.

Restrooms: ADA temporary restrooms provided at the event site. Indoor Accessible Restrooms are located at the Stone Houses.

Service Animals: Service animals are welcome in the park.

Programs & Events: Raleigh Parks Inclusion Services works with community members to support participation. To request a program modification based on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), please complete and submit the Accommodation Request Form or contact Inclusion Services staff at 919-996-2147 or ParksInclusion@raleighnc.gov.
