Creative Survival - Interpretation Workshop

Join us for a series of community workshops focused on how the Dix Park site might become a space for storytelling, remembrance, reflection, connection, and healing. Community members are welcome to join one or multiple workshops and share their ideas.

Creative Survival

Dix Park has been a site of both harm and healing– including the displacement of Indigenous people, enslavement, and the treatment of the mentally ill. In this workshop, we’ll explore how the park might honor people’s suffering and their efforts to care for their communities.

You might be interested in this workshop if

  • You are directly involved in helping to restore your community
  • You are aware of harm done on this site and want to help support healing
  • You are a member of a community connected to this site and want to participate in a healing effort at the park

This conversation will be led by Brocade Studio, an interpretive planning and facilitation consultancy, who are creating a Cultural Interpretation Plan for Dix Park.

Childcare will be provided during the workshop for children ages 5-12 years old.

Time: 6:00 - 8:00 pm

Location: The Chapel at Dix Park, 1030 Richardson Drive Raleigh, NC 27603

Registration: RSVPs are encouraged.
