Nights of Lights Is Coming To Dix Park
Here's What Park Visitors Need To Know
Monday, Dec. 14 through Thursday, Dec. 31, Nights of Lights drive-thru light show event is taking place at Dix Park.
Consider Alternate Routes
Heavy traffic and delays will occur around Dix Park during the event starting around 5:00 pm. If you are not attending Nights of Lights, please use Hillsborough St, Wade Ave, or I-40 as your eastbound and/or westbound thoroughfares.
Park Closures
Dix Park, including the Temporary Dog Park, will remain open to the public during park hours: Dawn to dusk, seven days-a-week.
The park will be closed to the public starting at 5:00 pm each evening of the event. To ensure the safety of all event attendees and park guest, no park visitors will be allowed to walk or bike in the event area after 5:00 pm.
Park Road Impacts
- Hunt Drive will be closed on December 9 & 10 from 7:00am - 3:30pm.
- On event nights, road closures will be in effect starting at 5:00pm.
- Starting December 9, vehicle height will be restricted to 10' on Hunt Drive and Barbour/Biggs Drive.

Dorothea Dix Park hosts the first ever WRAL/Capitol Broadcasting Nights of Lights drive-thru light show in partnership the City of Raleigh and Artsplosure. Operating nightly, Wednesday, Dec. 16 - Thursday, Dec. 31 (with the exception of Dec. 25), Nights of Lights offers a safe way for friends, families and neighbors to celebrate this unprecedented holiday season.
