Dix Park Master Plan Advisory Committee Announced

The City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department has announced the volunteers to serve on the Dorothea Dix Park Master Plan Advisory Committee. 

Master Plan Advisory Committee members will perform a variety of roles including but not limited to the following:

Advise - Committee members will represent the broad interests of the community and be advisers to the consultant team and the City.

Enrich - Committee members will have specific knowledge or experiences to share with the consultant team and the City to enrich the planning process.

Advocate - Committee members will be champions of the planning process and Dorothea Dix Park.

Engage - Committee members will be heavily involved in public outreach and engagement.

Lead - Committee members will lead, with the assistance of City staff, subcommittees relevant to their knowledge or experiences.

Serving on this Committee involves a commitment to attend regular meetings and public events. Meetings will be held at various times during the week including evenings and weekends. Committee members should expect at least a 2-hour monthly commitment. The City anticipates a two- to three- year planning process.

City staff evaluated applicants, using the following criteria to ensure a broad and diverse cross-section of the community are represented:

  • Interest/specialization
  • Background (age, race, gender)
  • Geographic distribution
  • Experience leading a group

City staff submitted a recommended list of Master Plan Advisory Committee members to City Council for consideration. 

The members of the Dorothea Dix Master Plan Advisory Committee, as appointed by City Council, are:
